Ahhh, the days of summer are officially here.

Has everyone seen the “new” changed again passport regulations? In a nutshell, if you don’t have your passport yet, BUT HAVE APPLIED, you CAN travel out of the Country, as long as you show proof of your application!

I am working closely with a local Police Association to raise money for the beautiful K9 dog they recently purchased. He, Mason, will be used in tracking and drug sniffing! Liberty of the Seas…

I received a wonderful invitation to a pre-inaugural sailing of the newest Royal Caribbean fleet…Liberty of the Seas. It was a 2 night sailing and absolutely wonderful…read my review:

LIBERTY OF THE SEAS 5/14/07-5/16/07The transfer from the Fort Lauderdale airport was uneventful. I arrived at the pier and went into the cruise terminal…which was quick and painless. I received my room card and onboard I went. I was on deck 10, in an inside stateroom. It was small but adequate for me. I would not want 3 adults in it, actually it was just a double occupancy room. The bathroom was small, but adequate…the new shower doors were great instead of the curtains. There is a shampoo/conditioner dispenser in the shower. There are also small bars of soap. The water had excellent pressure and there was plenty of hot water for showers. The bedding is amazing and comfortable, although the pillows were too thick for me. There is a nice little sofa. I unpacked my small amount of clothing and met up with a friend for lunch!The ship is gorgeous! It is definitely huge, but, it was not overwhelming to me. The lunch buffet was good. They offer some Japanese options in Jade, burgers, hot dogs and their fixings and different dishes, pasta, chicken, etc. The Windjammer was good…not excellent. They do offer iced tea, fruit punch and lemonade. The desserts looked good, but I did not try anything at this time.

Exploring the ship…she is beautiful…I was able to view The Royal Suite…it was beautiful…suites now come with champagne/sparkling wine, fresh fruit and upgraded toiletries and an alarm clock. There is marble and plush carpet. The bathroom was richly decorated in gold, black, and marble. The bath tub is nice, but the height is higher than a normal tub…I hadn’t noticed this before.

The Presidential Family suite is absolutely amazing! It sleeps up to 14. There is a separate living room, 4 bedrooms…three of which are quads, and the master bedroom sleeps 2. Bar area, dining table…the list goes on. The balcony is enormous, teak wood, an aft location. This cabin is a wonderful alternative to getting more than one cabin.

The inside cabin, handicap accessible is quite roomy, to accommodate a wheelchair. The cabin is quaint and comfortable.

The deluxe ocean view with balcony E2…was spacious for a triple. There is a queen bed (two twins) and a pull out sofa. The bathroom is the standard with a shower…The balcony was very nice. There is a sofa with a small glass table.

(ALL ROOMS ARE EQUIPPED WITH SAMSUNG FLAT SCREEN TELEVISIONS)

The ocean view family stateroom is really a nice option to keep the family together. There is a small room the has bunk beds in and some storage space for personal belongings. The bathroom is a standard shower…there is a sofa that pulls out if needed, and a queen bed (two twins). There is a desk area that is standard in the rooms. There are two port holes for windows. The room is spacious and roomy.

The promenade family stateroom is similar to the ocean view family stateroom, but it has a large walk in closet and overlooks the Royal Promenade.

The H2O zone is interesting. There are water guns and statues that squirt water. There is a small pool that is heated and is like a river pool. There is a waterfall that empties into a plunge pool…and there are two hot tubs in this area as well.

The adults only pool area is tastefully decorated with statues of tropical birds, golden palm trees and lots of pretty tile work. There is a bridge that goes over the pool. There are two very large hot tubs that jet out over the side of the ship…these were wonderful! The public areas were very clean. I was surprised, however, at the amount of wear on a ship so new. On the stairs to the river type pool there was cording material that had lifted up. The plants on the ship were all plastic…Within the pool area, towels needed to be signed out and room keys were checked. You had to return them to the same attendant area…or, as the sign stated, there would be a $20 charge per towel.

The rock climbing wall, was definitely tall…there were plenty of people doing it and having fun. The Flow Rider was a big hit. The staff here were fabulous…and it was fun…I would highly recommend it, if you are physically able.

The Windjammer was okay…adequate not great…the selections were okay…they had pasta, chicken, pork, beef, there were vegetable dishes, there was a grill for hot dogs and hamburgers, fries and the fixings. The desserts were very tasty…you could choose from lemonade, fruit punch and iced tea to drink. There was also hot coffee and tea, oh and hot cocoa.

Dinner in the dining room was very good…I had the garlic soup, salad, and braised lamb shank. Dessert was the hot chocolate cake…the hot chocolate sauce oozed out from the minute when you put your spoon into it…it was fabulous…their coffee was very good. The second night I got the shrimp cocktail and the tenderloin and for dessert, the grand marnier souffle…which was excellent.

The dining room is gorgeous! Three levels and tastefully and richly decorated.

Breakfast in the dining room was the usual…and very good. Service in the dining room was excellent.

The Royal Promenade was great. The coffee shop was okay…not as good as Starbucks. The desserts in there were very good and the sandwiches were yummy. The pizza at Sorrento’s was okay…I like a thin, thin crust.

They have nice shops…Ben and Jerry’s which I didn’t have. I did have a soft serve chocolate ice cream at Sprinkles by the pool.

I found the ship easy to navigate and didn’t get lost (much)
